CARNATION, WA - Boxwood’s design for this structure, the first of two working barns for this organic farm, situates it to overlook a 100 acre nature preserve, the Snoqualmie River, and the Cascades beyond. Designed to meet the client’s desire for a traditional barn form, the barn incorporates CMU with stone-veneer spaces for cold storage, slatted walls for ventilation, extensive overhangs for vegetable processing areas, an organic farming education and interpretive area, and a small apartment for the farmer.
